@Cara: it shouldn’t take too long to get here from there, but they told us it’ll take “2 to 3 days to process” once it actually gets returned to their office. Sigh.

@existere: Can’t you get across the border with just birth certificates? Also, the country you’re currently in may offer travel documents to allow you to cross the border if all those things are not in order beforehand (we were told that Ontario no longer offers these). After we get the birth certificate, we need to get the baby passport and the dual citizenship stuff. Crazy paperwork

This post makes me nervous, as we plan on going home for Christmas. This means waiting for both birth certificates, applying for baby passports, and THEN waiting for passports. Yikes.

That so sounds like one of my weeks!
If it really is like mine, your b.c. will come RIGHT after you’ve left for the border – that’s what happened to my Nexus pass last week.

What the hell is 18 hours away from Toronto in Ontario? Thunder Bay? Moosenee? The Birth certificate office is up in James Bay? That’s messed up.

That all sucks. I hope it works out so you get to go. I know how upset I would be if I had made plans to visit my family, show my baby off and have a party and then not be able to go. Hell I’d be seriously pissed.

Yeah, paperwork sucks. It took us forever to get Peanut’s birth certificate too.
