- Jealous. Mmmmm. RT @melanieiscushti: The beginning of something beautiful... http://t.co/SKEc3u6y
This Girl Talk Thursday, we’re interested in hearing your crazy roommate stories! I wish I had something crazy to tell you all about here, but I’ve never had a “roommate” unless you count Chris or, when we were very young, my sister.
So, I’m gonna talk about Chris.
Chris and I are really similar when it comes to our housekeeping habits, or lack thereof. Every once in awhile, though, he blows my mind with how damned messy he is.
For example, here’s a stack of dishes he left beside the sink awhile ago:
Let’s talk about the things you see here: a spoon, a bowl, a small plate, and a large plate. Okay, that’s cool.
But there’s also: a bill, a pen, a tissue, a sock, and a gum wrapper.
Seriously dude? Couldn’t you just clear those things off first? A SOCK? Why is a sock even near where you have your dishes? I can understand if these dishes were on his desk, and eventually the other things accumulated atop the dish, but the sock just doesn’t make sense.
So, let’s take a closer look at his desk:
SERIOUSLY DUDE. WHO NEEDS THAT MANY GLASSES ON THEIR DESK?!
So here I am, ranting about Chris’ desk for this post, and I reached for my mug of tea to take a self-righteous sip. Then when I went to put it down, I had to push a book and a bottle of nail polish out of the way. Because you see, this is my desk:
Okay. I guess I don’t have that much room to judge.
Seriously, what’s up with the lone flip flop lying next to the bracelet on the floor? The book “Your Happy Baby” is on my printer, under some immigration papers for Maia and a Christmas ornament from my mom. My beautiful new Tassimo — yes, it’s on my desk, fuck putting it in the kitchen, that’s too far to walk for coffee. There’s a bra behind my keyboard. Two pie plates (I made lemon meringue pie yesterday).
Anyhow, yeah, like I said… Chris and I are pretty similar in our housekeeping habits.
COUGH.
Update!

That’s all I have to say about THAT!
You crack me up!! Maybe I should be nicer to my hubby about the state if his desk
And I am sorry about how you are feeling (Re: last post)..I don’t mean to invalidate your feelings but perhaps it is lack of sleep. I find it much harder to filter out the bad stuff when I am exhausted. And maybe hormonal?!! I just got my AF back for real last week but was PMSing for almost 10 days before it showed up…seems early with round the clock bfing but maybe yours is on it’s way too?!!? I couldn’t figure out why Kevin was annoying the shit of me until I got it
I just finished mine… for the second month. I was PMSing like crazy, which was unusual for me pre-baby, but now seems to be par for the course. SIGH.
The cups! You are married to MY BROTHER.
I actually love all the random stuff on the desk, bahha. It’s like a treasure trove!
Only thing is, it makes me wanna clear off my desk. Which seems to be a den of cell phones, hand creams and action figures.
I’d like to point out that I have $15 worth of winning scratch lottery tickets… from the US… on my desk! That’s totally breakfast at Dunkin’ Donuts.
Omg.. you put your Tassimo ON your desk?!
WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT?!
^_^ You. Are brilliant.
Ah, the days of having a desk. Mine was always junked up. Now that I don’t have one, I junk up my car, the table beside the chair (aka my office), and the kitchen table. When you have a desk, the junk is much more condensed.
Also, I have seen that stacky of random shit. My husband likes to find as many wrong things as possible to leave for me. I think it’s his hobby.
You are so totally living my life. I walk around all day grumbling about how Ed just piles crap up on every possible surface and leaves socks (yes, him too with the socks) everywhere. Never mind that I brought my laptop out to the main room when the desk in my room could no longer accomodate it and have now taken over the dining room table so we all have to crowd around a teensy kitchen table to eat and that I right now have random chess pieces, cookie wrappers, kiddie “art” and roman candles kicking around that table (among other things). Fun post.
LOL – My desk is similarly messy.
the before picture looks *kinda* like my own desk LOL
Love the coffee maker on the desk… and I love how clean your desk is in the after picture!
Wow, that is SO much better! (Hope it lasts??) I make myself take something into the kitchen from the living room every morning, just so stuff dosn’t pile up. The open glass and coffee mug would give me a stroke however–I KNOW I would spill whatever was in them onto the keyboard or mouse. I have lids on anything spillable on my desk. Can’t believe Maia hasn’t pulled all of those cords out! Good job though…did it motivate Chris to clean his?
We’re not going to talk about how many times I’ve spilled drinks on my keyboard and had to buy a new one
Oh my god, you are my soul mate. Our desks are identical. Er, were, until you cleaned yours. I should probably do that. Heh.
“SERIOUSLY DUDE. WHO NEEDS THAT MANY GLASSES ON THEIR DESK?!”
The answer: my husband. I did a double-take, thinking you had snuck into my house and taken a picture of his man cave. I am often reminded when I huff & puff about him putting trash on the kitchen counter instead of in oh, you know, the TRASH CAN (which is conveniently right BY the kitchen counter), that I have similar untidy habits. Something about glass houses and stones. But the thing is that I’m usually the one cleaning up the mess. I don’t mind cleaning up *my* mess; I don’t want to clean *yours*! Am I right? Okay, sorry, for this ridiculously long rant on your blog… you hit a nerve since company is coming over in a few hours and I still have to clean.
DF is really bad, I mean *really* bad, at leaving glasses everywhere. And Diet Coke cans with just a drink or two left. And cereal bowls. With several bites of cereal left. Everywhere. It’s not annoying. At all.
My desk is a mess but it’s mostly papers and stuff. I rarely leave dishes laying around. That’s one of my pet peeves. One of my old coworkers, who I shared an office with, used to leave dishes around. I was all the time finding old coffee cups, all moldy and crusty. Disgusting.
Ohhhh look at you!!! My desk looked like that too, until I got my laptop. Now I’m never at the desk, thankfully
I love the coffee maker on the desk. That is utter brilliance. I’m taking notes for when I return to working out of my house!
You clean up good.
What was that jumble of stuff in the lower right corner? Or should I ask?
I had to clean up my desk recently too….
It’s a scarf
You each have your own computer desks? And computers? And two screens. Huh….that’s pretty cool.
Ours doesn’t look nearly that bad, but well…the rest of the house…different story!
That looks VERY familiar.
