I touched base with Amy, owner of Little Alouette, about the teether yesterday. She addressed all of my concerns and I have to say, I’m feeling pretty sheepish for a few reasons:
1) In the future, before posting a review of an item produced by a small business, I’m going straight to the owner first with my concerns and thoughts.
2) GiGi’s ears ARE rounded, not sharp; I just freaked out at the sight of blood and didn’t inspect the toy well.
3) Of course wood isn’t going to hurt Maia’s teeth any more than hard plastic or a frozen teething toy.
4) Maia, who has her first tooth coming in, PUT DOWN WATERMELON TODAY to pick up GiGi and chew on her. Those of you who have seen me rhapsodizing on Twitter about how much my daughter loves watermelon should pick your jaws up off the floor.
But you know what I’m happy about?
LITTLE ALOUETTE’S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS STILL AWESOME.
So not only did we get a GiGi made just for us, and hearts drawn on our envelope, but now I’ve gotten a long letter from the owner responding to my thoughts and concerns about her product. I’m totally thrilled by this.
Like I wrote in my review, I do like the product, I like the business, and I like how natural and environmentally-friendly the toy is. So if you’re looking for an all-natural, wooden toy, rattle, or teether for your baby, or as a gift, I recommend Little Alouette. And rest assured that if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about their products, the owner will give you the personalized attention you deserve!
